Sculpture Exhibits
Seal Sculpture
Tulista Park – Donated by local artist Craig Benson, “Mother Seal” was erected in Tulista Park in the spring of 2010. The sculpture is made of salt water resistant concrete and has become a favorite for children visiting the nearby playground.
Pirate Captain
Beacon Park – Created by Sooke artist and blacksmith Jake James, the “Pirate Captain” is constructed of forged steel and is meant to inspire imaginations while invoking images of the sea. This piece was erected in October 2009.
The Power Walker
Beacon Park – From the steel works of Jake James, the “Power Walker” (and her dog) is a wry look at the culture of ‘lifestyle choice’ where the pose of the walker reflects a certain attitude. It also begs the question…..who’s walking who? The sculpture was erected in October 2009.
